Goals and Objectives
The organisation's core goals and objectives are:
- To consult, represent and inform the E.C.U. members effectively.
- To promote or to undertake such activities or programmes as would help to improve standards of instruction, research, organisation and such other activities as may contribute to the growth and propagation of chess knowledge;
- To promote an environment in which the Federations, event organisers and players can succeed in securing financial support from commercial sponsors;
- To lead the development of a grass-roots framework, starting in schools and continuing throughout life, which will achieve the highest levels of participation in the world
- To achieve consistent, long-term success in the game through player development at every level
- To actively administer the organisation’s routine business by maintaining an up-to-date information database of Federations, their representatives, event dates and championship contenders.
- To assist small and lesser developed Federations in organising a structure which creates considerable growth in the respective technical, financial and marketing levels.
- To ensure that the organisation develops a high profile as a professional sports organisation and to become a leading-edge marketing organization
